How to Reset Your Password - Even if You Don't Know Your Current Password

As of August 2015, LAUSD's Single Sign-On Self (SSO) Service has been updated to provide additional security layers. Users will be asked a short set of security questions and/or will select a security image as part of the process of creating, changing, or resetting a password. This will now allow you to reset your password, even if you are not using the LAUSD network, i.e. you are working from home, a coffee shop, etc. Below are simple instructions to help you through the new password process.

Open your internet browser and type SSO. into the address field.

Next...Choose the option that best fits your needs. There are three options: Activate your LAUSD account (instructions for this option are not covered in this guide) Change your current password, or review and update information about myself Forgot your password or it has expired?

Click on the second option to reset your current password to a new password, as in the case of an upcoming expiration. You must know your current password to use this option.

1. Login with your SSO account name and CURRENT password

2. Click on - Change password or password hint - from the Profile page

3. Accept the terms of the Acceptable Use Policy by clicking the Accept button

5. Review the PASSWORD RULES on this page to ensure the new password you have in mind can be used. Please note that you cannot reuse a previously used password. Enter (and re-enter) your NEW password.

6. If you have not selected a SECURITY IMAGE, continue to the section - Your security image: 7. Selecting CLICK HERE in the - No security image selected. Click here to select a security image - gives you

the option to select an image.

9 8. A series of images will appear for you to choose from. Select an image that will be easy for you to

remember. Once you have selected one, it will be added to the - Change your Password page. (You only have to do this once, unless you want to select a new one.) 9. Once you click Submit, you will be returned to the Profile page. You will be presented with one of the two images below to confirm or deny your success in the password reset process. If you receive the Success message, congratulations. If you receive the Error message, the reason for failure is also given. Please repeat the processes and correct error reason.

10. Once you have successfully changed your password, please Logout

Click on the third option to change to a new password if you do not know/remember your old password 1. Accept the terms of the Acceptable Use Policy.

2. Select your user type - Employee, Non-Employee or Student

3. On the first page - Confirm your identity by entering your account name and pressing Submit

4. On the next page - Step 1: Confirm your Identity by providing your personal information. 5. Next, you will be shown several security images. 6. If your security image is there, select it. If not, chose - None of the Above 7. Press Submit 8. The system will validate the information that you provided.

If there is an error, you will receive the message below. Please repeat the process and correct the error.

If all information is correct - Step 2: Provide a new Password - will appear Page 3 of 4

10. Press Submit

Note: Some systems, including Email, may not receive the new password change immediately. Please wait at least 10 minutes and try to log in again.
