Safeplace is Thurston County’s domestic violence and rape relief agency. It offers free advocacy services, 24-hour telephone advisors, a confidential shelter for women and their children, as well as providing legal advocacy, language/hearing impaired interpretation, support groups, and referral to community services. They can be consulted 24 hours a day by calling 754-6300 (or 1-800-364-1776 toll free).

Weekly support groups for victims:

• Abigails weekly support group (Olympia Union Gospel Mission) Free. Thursdays 7:00-8:30 PM Call 754-9351 for information.

• Alternatives weekly support group. Free. Fridays 3:30 PM. Call 357-7986 for information.

Olympia Union Gospel Mission offers a confidential helpline (non-emergency) for Christian women at 754-9351, and a website offering a wealth of domestic violence resources, including biblical studies on domestic violence

Legal aid and court assistance:

• The Family Court Facilitator can assist individuals seeking protection orders or representing themselves in court. For an appointment or information, call 709-3274. Located near Mottman Park, at 2801 - 32nd Ave., SW.

• Safeplace has a legal advocate (754-6300).

• Limited free legal aid is available from CLEAR (1-888-201-1014).

• Some lawyers provide free legal help. Call the Thurston County Lawyer Referral Service (360) 923-4844.
