POSITION OVERVIEW The First Kids Learning Center Lead Teacher shall implement a structured classroom with the aid of their Assistant Teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS Have Early Childhood Growth and Development knowledge and experience Ability to use the computer to input developmental data, attendance, and implement curriculum Preschool Teachers must observe a Kindergarten classroom in the area for at least 6 hours Able to occasionally complete strenuous activities Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and in case of emergency, a 40 pound child Good communication, problem solving, and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude /disposition Ability to effectively plan, organize and implement educational activities Ability to make decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being Must be able to manage confidential information All employees, regardless of position, serve as role models for children and adolescents who are served by First Kids Learning Center. Therefore, each employee must at all times be emotionally stable and able to function effectively with children and adults. The staff must be able to demonstrate appropriate daily behavior, appropriate expression of emotions, as well as appropriate role modeling. Hostility, aggression and unnecessary or inappropriate physical actions as well as inappropriate emotional expression are not acceptable.

EDUCATION A college degree is preferred, but equivalent experience may be accepted.

EXPECTATIONS The First Kids Lead Teacher is responsible for the social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care, which may include infants, toddlers, and/or preschool age children; develops partnerships with birth parents/child's caregivers to engage and encourage parent participation in program. The Lead Teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with codes of all State and local governing agencies, incorporating current curriculum, and works collegially with other staff members of First Kids Learning Center.

TASKS The responsibilities of the Lead Teacher include, but are not limited to:

Using the defined curriculum, develop weekly plans, and implements age appropriate curriculum (lesson plan) to nurture and stimulate all domains of children's development in their care

Maintaining ongoing, open communication with parents/ caregivers Planning two parent conferences with Pre-Kindergarten parents to discuss

children's developmental progress, needs and interests Completing daily attendance records online Completing and reporting any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor and/or child

abuse hotline Participating in ongoing in-service and educational development
