An exciting Permanent Full-Time opportunity as a Clinical Director exists in the Primary Care Programs, reporting to the Vice President, Patient Care & Ambulatory Innovation.

Women’s College Hospital (WCH) is the first and only independent ambulatory care hospital in Ontario, and the only hospital in Ontario with a primary focus on women's health. As a teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, WCH supports research in women's health and will lead the way in training health-care providers within an ambulatory setting. With a budget of approximately $75M and over 500 FTEs, WCH is well established as a leader in women's health and its remarkable history goes back more than a century in Ontario. This is a very exciting time for WCH, as it explores new and better ways to provide care to women and their families throughout every phase of their lives.

The Clinical Director, Primary Care Programs, in collaboration with the Chief of Family and Community Medicine, will have leadership and day-to-day operational accountability for the hospital’s Primary Care Programs and will lead the service through the planning and redevelopment process in alignment with the WCH Strategic Plan. S/he will embrace the vision and mission of WCH and translate this to the Health Care Team through the application of knowledge in women’s health research and primary care. The Clinical Director reports to the Vice President, Patient Care & Ambulatory Innovation.

The Clinical Director will serve as the inspirational leader for her/his team of four managers, over 200 staff and physicians. S/he will have extensive experience in leading a hospital’s primary care programs. S/he will demonstrate an approachable leadership style that is adaptable to the internal and external changes that impact the unit. She/he will therefore demonstrate leadership competencies in interpersonal communication, customer service, diversity management, conflict management, human resource management, interpersonal skills, negotiation and influence, self-management, teaching others, career specific expertise and teamwork. The Clinical Director provides on-call coverage for administration to support the Manager on-call for first line decision-making, risk management and crisis response.

The successful candidate will have solid experience as a Director or equivalent leadership role. Current registration and in good standing with a Health Professional College is required. The Clinical Director’s leadership must also include experience in Emergency Room, Urgent Care processes and management. The ideal candidate will have her/his Master’s Degree in a health related or business field.
