This form is to be used if you are applying for an exemption from the requirement to record 100 hours of supervised driving experience in a learner logbook before you are eligible to apply for a P1 provisional licence.

You may be eligible if you meet at least one of the following requirements:

1. No car available You are able to prove that you do not have a car reasonably available to you to enable you to complete 100 hours of supervised driving experience. Note: You are not eligible for an exemption if you have access to a car but the transmission (manual or automatic) is not of your preferred choice.

2. No supervisor available You are able to prove that you do not have a supervisor reasonably available to you to enable you to complete 100 hours of supervised driving experience.

A supervisor is a person who: a. directs you while you are learning to drive

b. holds an open licence and has held that licence for at least one year

c. sits next to you in the front passenger seat while you are driving.

You may also take the completed application and application fee (cash, EFTPOS and major credit cards - a credit card surcharge will apply) to a Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) customer service centre or Queensland Government licence issuing centre.

3. Limited access to a road network You are able to prove that:

a. you live in an area with a limited road network that prevents you from obtaining 100 hours of supervised driving experience in a variety of road and traffic conditions

b. there is no significant benefit for you to satisfy the learner logbook requirements by driving on the available road network

c. there is no reasonable likelihood of you moving from the area or having an opportunity to drive in an area with a diverse road network.

A limited road network is a small number of roads of the same kind, for example, an island with a single road around the island.

A diverse road network is a group of roads of different kinds, for example, single or double lane roads, intersecting roads.

Important information If you have no car or supervisor available, a supporting person such as an immediate family member, carer or guardian must complete the supporting statement (included in this application) confirming your circumstances and detailing the reasons why you cannot complete the 100 hours of supervised driving experience. If this is not included your application cannot be assessed.

The lodgement of this application does not guarantee it will be approved. Your traffic history will be considered. Once received, your application will be assessed and you will be advised of the outcome within 28 days.

It is an offence under the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act to state anything or give a document to a departmental officer if you know it contains false or misleading information. The maximum penalty may exceed $7000.

Privacy Statement: TMR provides this form under the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act so that you may apply for an exemption from the learner logbook requirements. The information or documents collected for the purpose of this application will be accessible by authorised departmental officers and some of this information may be disclosed to the Queensland Police Service and interstate driver licensing authorities as allowed under the Act. TMR will not disclose your personal details or documents to any other third parties without your consent unless authorised or required by law.
