This hardworking team provides emergency mental health services, in conjunction with law enforcement, the local mental health authority, and EMS. Annie received her Social Work degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Her experience in the mental health field includes: psychiatric acute care with children; experiential therapy with adolescents, with an emphasis on backpacking and challenge courses; school based mental health services, and crisis intervention and management. Ms. Burwell has significant training in grief, loss, and trauma interventions, and is a certified hostage negotiator. She is a clinical instructor at the Texas A&M Health Science Center, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and the Emergency Management and Training Services School. She serves on many community boards including the Williamson County Commissioners’ Court Mental Health Task Force. She was a co-recipient of the 2002 Harry Gold Award, the 2008 Heroes in the Fight Award, the 2009 Exemplary Program Award from the Texas Corrections Association, and was the 2010 Williamson County Employee of the Year. She was recently awarded the Behavioral Healthcare Professional of the Year at the International Crisis Intervention Team Conference. ?Patrick F. McCann is licensed to practice law in Texas and has been since 1995. He is former President of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, a Board member of the Fort Bend Criminal Lawyers Association, and Chair of the Fort Bend County Mental Health Defenders.? He is certified to handle capital cases on trial, direct appeal and habeas in Texas.? Mr. McCann is a former Navy officer, now retired.Lieutenant Robert Henry joined the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in 1983 and has performed multiple supervisory functions within the Patrol Bureau, Academy, Criminal Justice Bureau, and Detention Bureau.? Lt. Henry currently commands the 168 member Mental Health Unit and Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT). Lt. Henry is an advanced hostage negotiator, conducting and supervising the negotiations of multiple high-risk encounters.? He received the Sheriff’s Hostage Lifesaving Award along with many other distinguished service accomplishments.? He assists multiple Houston area corporations with security policy development and emergency planning strategies.Lieutenant Mike Lee joined the Houston Police Department in 1989. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Government and a Master of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology. He was one of the original members of the Crisis Intervention Team when it began in 1999 and has been a member of the Hostage Negotiation Team since 2002. Lt. Lee is currently the supervisor of the HPD Mental Health Unit, which oversees the largest CIT program in the nation with over 1,600 CIT officers and also oversees the Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT). During his career, he has received 42 commendations, including four Chief of Police commendations and was also named the 2009 Lieutenant of the Year. Lt. Lee is a native Houstonian and lives in Kingwood with his wife of twenty years, Suzan, and his two daughters, Madison and Morgan. ................
