NO SCHOOL – We do not have school on MONDAY FEBRUARY 15th.BIRTHDAYS – In our 4’s a.m. class we do not have any birthdays for February. In our 4’s p.m. class we have one birthday. Olivia’s birthday is February 26th!HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVIA!PAJAMA DAY – We will have a pajama day on February 25th. Students can come in pajamas or comfy clothes! They can also bring slippers to change into if they would like to.WINTER BOOTS – If you have your child wear their winter boots please put shoes in their backpacks for them to change into. The water & snow from the boots make our floor pretty slippery! Thank you PROGRESS REPORT – A Progress Report will be coming home with your child on Wednesday February 17th. Please look it over and continue to work with your child on the listed areas. These areas are all Kindergarten readiness skills.KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION – Kindergarten Registration is coming up soon! Please go to the Byron Center Public Schools Website and look for Kindergarten Registration for the 2021-2022 School Year. PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION – Registration for current families started on January 25th. If you have a sibling of a current student please sign them up before it is open to the public. Please remind friends and family that they can sign up their preschool age children beginning on February 8th!! Everything is on-line this year! WIKKI STIX – We love Wikki Stix. The students have fun playing with Wikki Stix. If you have never seen them they are similar to a glue covered piece of yarn, ha! They are so much fun and they can stick on our white boards for the students to practice making letters. I purchased some number and letter cards that were designed especially for Wikki Stix and the students have to place the Wikki Stix on the cards to form letters and numbers. They can make shapes with them and all kinds of other things. It’s a good fine motor tool too and there is really no mess!! I was reading something that came with our package of Wikki Stix and it also has some ideas for Wikki Stix to be “Handy Household Helpers”!!. I thought I would share a couple as they definitely had Mrs. Berens and me laughing!! 1. Hard to open jars or bottles? – Wrap a Wikki around the top and it will unscrew a lot easier. 2. They can be used to repair watchbands, jewelry and eyeglasses. 3. If some of the sports equipments have a slippery grip you can just wrap a few Wikkies around them for a better grip! The list goes on and on but I won’t list all of them!! Just thought it was pretty funny! Anyway the kids really enjoy them and they are a great learning tool for making letters and numbers. If you Google Wikki Stix, you can get a better idea of what they are. LETTER / WORD RECOGNITION – For our letter recognition this month we will work on O, P, Q, R, S. We are almost all the way through the alphabet. The students are doing very well with letter recognition and the sounds that they make. Please keep practicing this at home. Along with the beginning sounds of words please also keep practicing the ending sounds and rhyming. PRESCHOOL FOLDERS – Please remember to clean out your child’s preschool folder. It makes it easier for the students to fill them back up!!OUTSIDE DAY – We will hopefully be planning an outside day soon! Instead of giving you a date right now I’m hoping to just keep watching the weather and tell you maybe just a few days before we plan to go out. So please check email regularly just in case! Thinking sometime in the middle of February. As always thank you so much for everything you do, we really appreciate all the help!Mrs. Gallagher ................
