DOT COLORS BOOK LEVELS
Red = 0.0 to 1.9 (K to 1st) Green = 2.0 to 2.9 (2ndgr.)
Orange = 3.0 to 3.9 (3rd gr.)
Blue – 4.0 to 4.9 (4th gr.)
Pink = 5.0 and up (5th and higher)
The Accelerated Reader program is designed by a company called Renaissance Learning, Inc. The developers worked closely with teachers, parents and students to create a nationwide program that motivates children to become independent readers while enhancing their comprehension. The Zone of Proximal Development is the range of reading levels that your child should choose books from to develop vocabulary and comprehension.
Your child’s
teacher can
assist you by providing you with your child’s Z.P.D..
