Conditioning:

- There will be no conditioning prior to try-outs.

- Team Conditioning: the team will condition after school twice a week after try-outs in January prior to practice beginning. If you are involved in another sport you are excused. Approval is needed before you miss conditioning.

Try-outs:

Monday October 23rd –Wednesday October 25th

**Please note: Tryouts may be extended to include Thursday and Friday (the 26th and 27th ) if necessary.

- All try-outs will be held at Liberty Middle School. Try-outs are CLOSED to spectators.

- Try-outs will be from 3:30-5:00. Please plan on picking up your son by 5:00.

- Every player should bring a white shirt, a dark colored shirt, cleats, shin guards, and water to try-outs.

- If you are involved in another SCHOOL sport that interferes with try-outs you must email Coach Carter at jrcarter@madisoncity.k12.al.us before tryouts begin.

Try-out Sign-ups

There will be a sign-up sheet for tryouts outside the gymnasium doors starting September 18th – September 29th. No one will be allowed to sign up after September 29th.

- Please give the following paperwork to the front office in an envelope labeled with your name by October 6th. Paperwork WILL NOT be accepted after the deadline. These forms are located online on the left hand side of the Liberty Webpage under Sports.

(Please hold paperwork until you have it all).

1. Completed Physical form (unless already on file)

2. Athletic Insurance Form or Proof of Purchasing School Insurance

3. Completed Concussion Form

4. Student Release Form

5. Student Athlete Contract

Requirements to make the team:

1. Completion of the fitness requirements (1.5 mile run in 15:30).

2. General knowledge of the rules of the game

Including but not limited to: positions, offside, illegal tackling, and throw-ins.

3. Demonstration of Basic skills.

Including but not limited to: passing, dribbling, receiving, heading, and shooting.

* The only excuse for not being able to perform these tasks is if you are injured. If this is the case, I will need a doctor’s note explaining the injury and your limitations in advance. Parent notes will not be accepted!

Rules and Expectations:

- Rules

1. Always give 110%

2. Always be on time

3. Always have all of your equipment (including water and braces, if needed)

4. Always be respectful to teammates, coaches and referees.

5. Follow all Madison City and Liberty Middle School rules!

* ALL practices, games, tournaments, fundraisers are MANDATORY!

* You should not miss any event unless you have an excused absence.

*Playing time is not guaranteed! Only PLAYERS can speak with me about playing time and positions.

- Expectations

1. Players must always have above average behavior on and off the field.

2. Players must have a positive attitude during practice, games and towards teammates, coaches, and referees.

3. Players must maintain a 70 GPA in each class.

4. Players must maintain their physical condition through-out the season.

5. Players must complete the STAR sportsman program. (Completed after try-outs)

- Excused absences: (Must know in advance or sometime during that day)

1. Sick (doctors note or an excused absence from school)

2. Death

3. Approved School Function (field trip)

4. Tutoring/Club meeting (should come late to event!)

- Consequences for an unexcused absence:

1. 1st and 2nd absence: will not start and will sit at least ten minutes of the next game.

2. 3rd and 4th absence: player will be required to sit on the bench for the length of the next game.

3. 5th absence: player is dismissed from the team.

- Games

1. Players are required to be in school for at least HALF the day to be allowed to play in the game!

2. Players will be required to maintain a 70 GPA in each class in order to play in games.

- If a player is missing any equipment or is late, they will run one lap for every piece of equipment missing or for every minute late!

- Any discipline measures that are assigned to the player during school will also result with punishment based on the severity of the infraction.

Expected Events:

- Conditioning Program after try-outs

- Greenery Sale Fall Fundraiser (begins right after try-outs)

- Work Weekend (preparing the fields for play)

- Spring Fundraiser

- Concession Duty (once a season, during a girls game)

Expected Expenses:

- $125 uniform usage fee

- $75-120 Spirit Pack (some items are optional)

- $7 tickets for End of the Year Picnic (attendance optional). Athlete’s meals will be provided at no cost to the player.
