MK SCHOLARSHIP Student Applicant Information

Student Eligibility To be eligible, students must:

1) Be U.S. citizens and dependent children of missionaries serving on a foreign mission field outside the United States through one of the Liberty approved organizations. Missionary parents must maintain an overseas assignment (except for furloughs of up to one year) to remain eligible for the MK Scholarship; continued eligible status of parents with agency will be reviewed annually by CGE.

2) Apply for standard aid through the FAFSA and VTAG application as applicable 3) Be new undergraduate resident students 4) Begin first-time enrollment on or after the Spring 2015 semester 5) Maintain full-time consecutive enrollment and maintaining Financial Aid satisfactory

academic progress.

Children of home office personnel living and working in the United States, children of international field personnel who are non-US citizens, students who already attend Liberty University, full-time Liberty Online students, and adult (non-college aged) missionaries are not eligible to apply.

Student Application Requirements The student must complete the following steps in any order:

1) Apply for and be accepted into Liberty University 2) Submit the FAFSA and, if applicable, the VTAG 3) Submit the MK Scholarship application 4) Request a letter of confirmation from your home office be sent to Liberty's Admissions

department stating the nature of your family's service with your organization. This letter may be sent via email or postal mail. It must come from the home office and cannot be sent by the family or the student applying for the scholarship. Official agency letterhead or email signature is required.

For a student application to be considered, all of the above pieces must be completed and submitted. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated.

For priority consideration, please complete the entire application process by April 1 of each year.

Student Application Evaluations Student applications are reviewed by the Financial Aid and Admissions departments, and a committee from the Center for Global Engagement.

Award amounts are determined after considering the applicant's: 1) Academic merit (GPA, SAT/ACT, transcript etc.) 2) Financial need (determined by the FAFSA) 3) Essay response

Though your organization has been approved for inclusion into the program, the approval of any and all student applications from your organization is not guaranteed. The number of students who can be accepted into the program each year is dependent on the funding available.

Student Financial Aid Awards 1) Students may be awarded a full tuition or partial tuition scholarship of up to $20,000 per academic year (less other federal, state, and Liberty institutional gift assistance). 2) Room, board and fees are not included. 3) The award is disbursed over the four consecutive years of a bachelor's degree. 4) Students who receive an award will be notified of their specific award amount and terms by Financial Aid via letter and/or email. 5) Students who are not selected for an award will be notified by the Center for Global Engagement via email from the MKscholarship@liberty.edu account.
