BONDS All contractors must submit a $10,000 current, original license and permit bond, signed by both the bonding agent and contractor. The Village of Lyons must be listed on the certificate.

INSURANCE All contractors must carry a minimum $300,000 general liability insurance and workmen's compensation as required by law. A current insurance certificate is required, with the Village of Lyons listed as a certificate holder.

HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTORS As of January 1, 2000, the State of Illinois requires home improvement contractors to comply with:

Contract: A contractor cannot begin work or take payment unless he has signed contract. A copy of the contract must be submitted with all permit applications. The contract must include written acknowledgement by the customer that he or she has received a copy of the State of Illinois pamphlet "Home Repair: Know Your Consumer Rights" if a contractor uses a post office box, he must include his home address on the contract.
