Position: Probation Officer

Salary: $19.29 per hour

Agency: Licking County Municipal Court Adult Probation Department

Minimum Qualifications: B.A., B.S., or Associates Degree in Corrections, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field; valid Ohio Driver's License; ability to obtain and maintain an Ohio Risk Assessment System Certification; at least 21 years of age. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. Prior experience as a Probation Officer, substance abuse counselor and/or mental health counselor is strongly preferred. Ability to complete all Probation Officer training classes within one year of hire.

Hours: Full Time - Monday ? Friday 8:00 AM ? 4:30 PM

Duties: Appropriately uses the case management system. Supervises caseload by conducting home, office, employment and social service agency contacts. Implements Court-ordered sanctions by establishing a comprehensive supervision plan. Maintains accurate daily written documentation of case management activities to insure offender compliance. Effectively addresses risk and need issues of offenders through referral to appropriate resource providers. Implementation of graduated responses to sanctions, and timely response to violations of supervision terms and conditions. Makes concerted effort to provide for the safety of the general public by identification of potentially dangerous and/or high risk offenders and taking necessary precautions and/or actions. Conducts pre-sentence, bail bond, expungements, and other investigations as assigned by the Court or by the Director; make appropriate recommendations to the Court as to dispositions and other matters. Arrest and/or assist in the arrest of offenders. Conduct search and seizure of persons and/or property in compliance with established guidelines regarding use of force and/or chain of custody.

Initiate revocation proceedings by writing and filing appropriate motions and/or judgment entries.

Providing testimony before Grand Jury and/or the appropriate Court. Maintains good working relations with community and criminal justice

agencies. Participates in training and other job-related coursework. Operates urinalysis and breathalyzer testing equipment. Maintains workload statistics. Completes State and/or departmentally required data forms. Performs special duties as assigned by the Court or Director. Performs other duties as required.
