PURPOSE-DRIVEN LIFE HEALTH ASSESSMENT

SMALL GROUP LEADER JOB DESCRIPTION

The following outline, from Lifetogether's “Leading Lifetogether: Building the Heart of Your Group” workbook, descibes three biblically based components of a Small Group Leader.

1) Heart of Christ

“And seeing the multitudes, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast like sheep without a shepherd”.

Matthew 9:36

2) Hope of the Church

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:16-20

3) Hand of a community leader

• Purpose of a Leader: Create a healthy group that produces healthy lives over time

• Primary Responsibilities of a Leader:

[pic] Connect your members in authentic community (fellowship)

Who knows your name?

[pic] Cultivate their spiritual health (discipleship)

What’s next in your spiritual growth?

[pic] Coach their gift of discovery and development (ministry)

Where are you serving?

[pic] Challenge them to spiritually reproduce their lives (evangelism)

Where are you scheduled to share?

[pic] Celebrate your life in worship (worship)

How will I surrender?

Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as [your] fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to [the will of] God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. 1Peter 5
