PIGA

PIGA is a partnership of the Government of the United Kingdom (UK) of Great Britain and Northern Ireland's Department for International Development (DFID), the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the China-Africa Development Fund (CADFund) and the International Trade Centre (ITC).

PIGA was officially launched on 22 October 2015 in London, on the sidelines of Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to the UK. Under this partnership, DFID, CCPIT, CADFund and ITC jointly aim to increase investment-led exports and local development in two productive sectors, agro-processing and light manufacturing, in Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique and Zambia.

PIGA is a component of Invest Africa, a large DFID programme linking private sector investors, buyers, financiers and governments in several African countries, to boost manufacturing and create jobs by increasing foreign direct investment (FDI).

ITC

ITC is the joint agency of World Trade Organization and the United Nations. ITC assists small and medium?sized enterprises in developing and transition economies to become more competitive in global markets, thereby contributing to achieving the United Nations 2030 agenda.

B2B MATCH-MAKING EVENT

SUMMARY

The International Trade Centre (ITC), the City of Hangzhou, the Investment Promotion Department of MOFCOM and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) are organizing a B2B MatchMaking Event in Hangzhou, China on 25 - 27 April 2018.

The meeting will focus on agroprocessing and light manufacturing opportunities in Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique and Zambia and will bring together companies and investment promotion officers from the selected African countries and Chinese companies who have strong interests in building business partnerships and investing Africa.

The event will provide a platform for building direct business linkages among companies from four African countries and relevant Chinese companies to explore trade and investment opportunities in Africa.

Companies participating in the B2Bs will have the opportunity to meet with new business partners, explore new areas of cooperation and also attend the plenary and practical sessions of the event.

WHICH COMPANIES WILL PARTICIPATE? HOW WILL THE B2Bs BE ORGANIZED?

Farmers, producers, manufacturers, exporters, importers and investors interested in business partnerships in the below agro-processing and light-manufacturing sectors. In addition, selected companies and organizations from the UK and China that can provide services to facilitate these business partnerships will also participate.

Individual agendas of appointments between African companies and Chinese investors will be facilitated by ITC for each company based on their business interests and complementarities. ITC will provide each company with a list of potential business partners

Each company will have the opportunity to meet with approximately 10 potential business partners through pre-arranged meetings and requests for additional appointments can be organized on the spot by the B2B team.

The 30-minute one-on-one business meetings will be scheduled on numbered tables.

Companies receive their badges and appointment schedules on 26 April during registration.
