It is also known as Endpoint Protection Platform or Advanced Endpoint Protection. Once installed, most antivirus agents run automatically in the background to provide real-time protection against malware attacks. (eg:? Windows Defender, CrowdStrike, McAfee)?Authentication:? the process an application or resource uses to establish the identity of the person attempting to access the application to ensure that unauthorized users are not able to gain access. The most basic form of authentication is a request for a username and password.Bitlocker:? a full volume encryption feature included with Microsoft Windows versions starting with Windows Vista. It is designed to protect data by providing encryption for entire volumes.?Browser:? an application such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge used to access web-based applications and Internet sites.Cybercriminals:? a person or persons who engage in criminal activity using computers and/or the Internet, typically with profit motivation.?Device Health Application:? lightweight application installed on your desktop or laptop that checks the health of your computer when you log on to an application that is protected by Duo.Filevault:? full disk encryption program found on computers running MacOS.Full Disk Encryption:? a technology like FileVault on MacOS or BitLocker on Windows which protects information by converting an entire hard drive including data, files, the operating system and software programs into unreadable code that cannot be deciphered easily by unauthorized people. This form of encryption is comparable to the protection of your home. Just as locking all exterior entrances is an efficient way of ensuring that no unwanted visitors enter the interior living spaces of your home, full disk encryption places an exterior guard on the internal contents of the device.?Healthy Device:? a device is deemed healthy when it meets the security requirements defined by your organization which may include: the operating system is up-to-date, the firewall is turned on, disc encryption is enabled, a password is required to log onto the computer, and / or virus protection is running.Host-Based Firewall:? software that runs on an individual computer which controls what and how applications are allowed to connect to your computer. A firewall establishes a barrier between your computer and other networks that are assumed not to be secure and trusted (e.g. the Internet).OS (operation system):? an operating system, like Windows, MacOS, Android, or iOS. The operating system supports the computer’s basic functions.MFA (multi-factor authentication):? an additional factor needed to log on to an application in order to keep it more secure. MFA involves something you know (password) plus something you have with you (like Duo Mobile on your smartphone) to prevent someone from logging in with only your password. With Duo MFA, you still enter your username and password. The second factor provided by Duo is simply an added layer of security on top of your existing credentials. We recommend using Duo Push via the Duo Mobile app to perform MFA.System Password:? the password or biometric you use to log into your computer.Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is the Duo Device Health Application?Duo Device Health Application is a lightweight application installed on your desktop or laptop that checks the health of your computer when you log on to an application that is protected by Duo.What data does the Duo Device Health Application collect? The Device Health Application only collects data that enables your organization to determine if your laptop/desktop meets the security requirements to access corporate resources.
