This Seminar will cover the current state of advanced planning techniques. Included will be discussion of recent legislation and regulation in the areas of tax shelters, 412i and 419a plans, split dollar and estate planning. Examples will be used to illustrate the application of code sections and planning techniques such as GRATS; Premium Finance; Split dollar economic benefit vs. loan regime to family and business situations. Pending legislation and proposed regulations will be presented and analyzed for potential impact on advanced market planning. There will be a question and answer session.

Dennis Catanzano is Vice President, Business Development, Lincoln Life. In this capacity, Dennis is responsible for Lincoln’s relationship to M Financial Group. Prior to joining Lincoln, Dennis consulted with LIMRA International member companies on distribution strategy, field compensation and profitability. From 1983 to 1998, Dennis served in a variety of positions with the Life Insurance Company of Virginia and its current parent GE Financial. Earlier Dennis also served as the Controller of Life of Virginia. Dennis serves on the SFSP Hartford Board of Directors.

Jim Magner is Vice President, Advanced Markets, for Lincoln Financial Distributors. Jim works extensively with M Financial, Brokerage General Agencies and other distributors on complex tax planning for their clients. Previously Jim supported career and independent distribution at John Hancock. Jim’s industry experience and training is buttressed by his practical knowledge of the IRS; having worked there as an attorney for several years.

Brian Titus is Second Vice President in the Wealth Management Division of Phoenix Life. Brian lectures extensively on estate planning, split dollar and related topics. Brian has published in many publications on the uses of life insurance among the wealthy. Brian works extensively with top distributors on complex estate and trust issues.
