Lincoln Financial Foundation

Charitable Contributions Overview

Building Stronger Communities

Since its founding, Lincoln Financial Group has recognized that good corporate citizenship is intrinsic to its success. The company's spirit of philanthropy led to the establishment of the Lincoln Financial Foundation in 1962 and has inspired a rich tradition of giving ever since. In 2022 Lincoln Financial made over $9.2 million in charitable contributions to a wide variety of philanthropic endeavors.

The Foundation's approach to local philanthropic giving reflects the strong connection Lincoln Financial has with its communities. Recognizing that the employees in its affiliate offices can best determine the needs of their respective communities, the company established local Charitable Contribution Committees in our primary business locations. Comprised of employees, these committees review proposals and award grants to the nonprofit organizations that they believe will make an enduring impact on their communities.

Employee Giving and Matching Gifts

Lincoln Financial employees participated in a workplace giving campaign that totaled over $700,000 for United Way agencies where the employees live. These employee contributions are in addition to the United Way grants of over $800,000 given by the Lincoln Financial Foundation.

In 2022, the Foundation matched over 2,400 employee gifts to nonprofits for over $1,000,000. The Foundation's matching gift program leverages employee and retiree donations to over a thousand community nonprofits throughout the United States.

Lincoln employees also play a main role in our locations by working alongside our nonprofit partners as volunteers or board members. Lincoln Financial Foundation supports employee volunteerism through LIVE (Lincoln Invests in Volunteer Experiences) grants to the nonprofits they serve.

2022 Grants

Lincoln Financial Foundation focuses on building stronger communities through nonprofit partnerships in education, human services, and financial wellness, with the goal of helping people living on low income build secure financial futures. Lincoln Financial supported over 280 nonprofit organizations in 2022.
