Warm up:
T: Hello everyone, I am Lindsay. Let’s sing a chant.
Rice pudding hot, rice pudding cold
Rice pudding in the pot nice days old.
Some like it hot, some like it cold,
Some like it in the pot nine days old.
Clap hands and sing along.
Clap at different paces. 2-3 times. Fast, faster, and slower.
Presentation:
T: Today Lindsay is going to take you to a picnic. Look what I brought.
I’ve got a banana, a sausage, some milk, some bread, a carrot, an onion, some fish, some chicken, an orange, some lettuce, an apple, and some yogurt, some …..(use cards/ or actual food n drinks.)
Don’t take out all the food or cards yet. Just tell everyone what is in them.
Material:food/ Cards: A, An, some, and 3 boxes , stick the cards onto each box.
T:
Okay, before we eat. We have to ask my magic boxes to give us the food.
Magic box, magic box, please give us the food!
--Magic box shake their heads, and say, let’s play a game. You can guess what is in us, and if you guess right, you can have it.
Oh, okay. Everyone, do you want to help Lindsay?
Who can help me? Who wants to guess what is in the A box?
And what is in An box,
And what is in Some box?
■ If there are enough students, divide them into two groups. Or more.
■ Have them come up in groups, and call out the things in the boxes.
T:
I want a banana.
Magic Box: Yes, correct! There you go! (Teacher can take out the correct item , and put on the board goes, I want a banana.
T: I want a bread,
Magic box A laughs at T, and says, hahaha, wrong. Then Magic box Some giggles and says, hhah, they don’t know bread is in me, only I have the special food and drinks. )
Ask for help.
Etc..
I want a ( banana, sausage, …
I want an ( apple, orange, ….
I want some ( lettuce, yogurt, milk, bread, fish, chicken, ….
Practice:
Play a game.
Teacher points at the sentences on the board and have two teams or two students to say the words out loud, whoever is the fastest, wins.
Play a “What‘s missing game.”
Erase one of the sentences on the board and have them guess what is missing.
Produce:
What will you bring to our picnic next time?
Write n draw the things you will bring next time.
Sum up:
In English we have foods and things that are count and uncount.
For example,
Apples, oranges, bananas, schoolbags, desks and chairs are countable. We can count them, one, two, three….
But some things are uncountable , such as water, milk, bread, lettuce, air, are uncountable. Therefore we can say some…. . you can t count air, use the local language to help is very useful n funny in a way, too.
Okay, homework is for you to go home and distinguish things that you think is count or uncount. And make a list, next time, we will talk about them together.
