Biology Current Events Project

Biology Current Events Project

You will be reporting to the class about a current event in biology. This will be a project grade for the first marking period. Your first step is to browse the sites below and find a current event article relating to biology. The article should be dated within the last six months. As soon as you find an article, please reserve your topic by signing the list in class. If someone has signed up for your topic, you should pick a different topic.

The printed article is due on Monday, October 7. It is worth 10 points of your final project grade. Please do not begin working on your presentation until your article has been approved. You will not receive it back so please bookmark it online or print a copy for yourself.

Presentations will begin on October 21. Your presentation needs to be emailed to me by 8 am on October 21 to be considered for a grade. You can use Powerpoint, Prezi, Powtoon, or any other similar presentation program.

Your presentation must contain:

*a title

*an overview of the article. Do not copy and paste text from the article. Instead put it in your own words. You need to explain thoroughly all of the related concepts mentioned in the article.

*a minimum of 10 slides. Slides should not contain only written words, full sentences or paragraphs. Instead, put phrases on the slides and explain the details verbally. Please use pictures.

*a bibliography with a minimum of three sources. You must use at least two other sources (books, encyclopedias, scholarly websites) to help you interpret the article.
