Abstract: International fabric shows held in New York City

previewed Fall/Winter 2005-06 collections. For fall, casual styles are

influencing formal. There are Teflon-treated wools, polyurethane

coatings and blends with high-performance man-made fibers. Italy-based

Miroglio S.p.A. showed silk and paisleys. At the Turkish Fashion Fabric

Exhibition (TFFE), organized by the Istanbul Textile and Apparel

Exporters' Associations, 49 textile companies showed their lines. Many

of the firms showing at TFFE, offer a full package, with capacity for

spinning, weaving or knitting, dyeing and finishing, through to garment

production. Fabrics are of high quality and usually woven of natural

fibers. Innovation Asia showed lines by 23 textile companies from China,

India, Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

Abstract:   A documentary on Issey Miyake, one of the world's

                   exploiting texture and wrinkles. The process of folding and twisting

                   the fabrics by hand, then baking them, is captured on film. Miyake

                   talks about his background, training, and some of his favorite

                   projects, such as designing costumes for William Forsythe's

Frankfurt Ballet and outfits for Lithuania's 1992 Olympic team.
