You will invite one person from each of the regions in the world. Each individual will also be from a different time period. They should have varied backgrounds and roles within their society. (You may not choose Religious Founding Fathers, i.e. Confucius, Siddhartha Gautama, Moses, Mohammed, Jesus). Your selections are due by 11/16.(2) Thoroughly research the life of each person you have selected. Know his/her background, accomplishments, opinions, and idiosyncrasies.(3) Thoroughly research world events from the period of 1880 to 1910 to inform your conversation.(4) Recreate the conversation that took place around the dinner table on that New Year's Day. Discussion should focus on the compelling issues of the day. You must use standard bottom of the page citations and your bibliography must include primary sources, books, journals --all materials that you consulted in proper format. (6) Write the paper as a "discussion." (Do NOT use a "script" format.) Include descriptions of the setting, reactions of the different participants, food, music played, clothing worn by guests and other details you think will make the evening live in the mind of the reader.(7) Create an outline of topics and points your characters will be making about each topic. Your outline is due by 11/30. REMEMBER YOU MAY NOT USE YOUR TEXTBOOK OR ENCYCLOPEDIAS FOR THIS PROJECT. THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF MATERIAL ON THE EVENTS OF 1910. (8) Your final paper should be 3 to 5 pages typed, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, 12-point font. Remember to include footnotes where appropriate and a properly formatted bibliography. The bibliography is worth 15 points. (9) Five points will be deducted for each day late. No papers will be accepted after Winter Break.
