SUNY COURSE TRANSFERS

Community Colleges do not offer approved teacher education programs. To determine whether a community college pedagogical core course might be acceptable go to: .

Select a college that is near the community college (you may have to try a few different colleges). For Hudson Valley CC, you would choose SUNY Albany:

Note that a course number is optional – so if you put a course number into the catalog number field and are not successful, try leaving the field blank.

You will get a list of all 2,300 courses offered by HVCC. You can search the bunch by using key strokes Ctrl+F (Find). You may need to try just the prefix (EDU, ECE, EDE etc) or just the number.

Here is a successful search for EDUC110 – but notice there is not space between the prefix and the number – one of many factors that can make searching a challenge.

Since SUNY Albany recognizes this pedagogy course taken at Hudson Valley Community College as “acceptable in transfer” we would consider the course as if taken at SUNY Albany, which does offer teacher education programs.

NOTES:

• The course needs only to be transferrable. It does not need to be transferrable directly into a teacher education program at the college.

• Content and General Core courses do not need to be transferable: you would only use SUNY.EDU to determine if pedagogy courses are transferable
