Shooting Assignment: OPPOSITES

10 PHOTOS (5 PAIRS) DUE MONDAY, NOVEMBER16th

We will be a round of photographs that meet the criteria of being “opposite.” Use this sheet as a guide with your photos.

Things to consider:

1. Does it meet the criteria for being “opposite?” Use the list as a guide, or come up with your own pair. Make sure it fits the criteria for being opposite.

2. Try not to “stage” your photograph- often the best photos are candid, yet well planned as far as composition and subject matter. Stay away from placing objects on a surface and photographing them.

3. Compose your photos creatively- zoom in, frame with your viewfinder or other objects. The more options you have for each opposite pair- the better!

4. Make sure your camera is steady and the subject is focused. Use a tripod or rest on a stable surface if the shutter speed is too slow.

Here is a list generated from students to help get some more ideas with “opposites”. Feel free to use any of these ideas when considering your photos, or use this as a springboard to come up with some ideas of your own!

Please check out a camera to use during class-time this week if you don’t have your own camera/ smart-phone to use! You can use the halls or outside the front entrance for inspiration! Try to do this at the start of the week, so that you don’t rush through the project!
