Image of keynote speakers attached.Rutgers-–New Brunswick Writers’ Conference Featuring Bestselling Authors Billy Collins and Jane SmileyAnd an Seven Things I've Learned: An Evening with Ira GlassSOMERSET, NJ--Aspiring and established writers, agents, editors, and publishers will gather to learn and share at the fourth annual Rutgers–New Brunswick Writers’ Conference (ruwriterscon.rutgers.edu/news) to be held on June 5-7, 2020 in Somerset, NJ. Attendees choose workshops from multiple concurrent sessions, meet individually with agents, editors, and publishers, join a panel discussion on publishing options, and attend an evening reading event featuring famous authors. Concurrent sessions will address Creative Non-fiction, Fiction, Genre Fiction, Poetry, Writing for Performance, New Media, and the Business of Writing. New York Times bestselling poet Billy Collins and novelist Jane Smiley will present the keynote presentations.Additionally, on June 5, 2020, conference participants will have the opportunity to attend?Seven Things I’ve Learned: An Evening with Ira Glass. This special opening event allows attendees a glimpse into the mind of the host and creator of This American Life. Listen as he discusses what inspires him to create, and how past failures, as well as successes define his future decision-making. Billy Collins, an American poet, has appeared in?The New Yorker,?The Paris Review, and?The American Scholar.? Collins has published twelve collections of poetry, including?Questions About Angels,?The Art of Drowning,?Sailing Alone Around the Room: New & Selected Poems,?Nine Horses,?The Trouble With Poetry and Other Poems,?Ballistics,?Horoscopes for the Dead?and?Picnic,?Lightning. Modern Haiku Press published a collection of his haiku, She?Was Just Seventeen,?in the fall of 2006. He has also published two chapbooks,?Video Poems?and?Pokerface.
