October 24, 2019Dear Students,?I’m writing to remind you of the new policies regarding reimbursements for conference travel, to announce the next deadline, and to ask you to note the application deadline changes listed below. Please read the entire message, as procedures have changed. As many of you know, in the past we asked you to apply AFTER the conference had taken place. Because SAS requires that we request reimbursements within thirty days of the expense, we now require that you submit requests for support BEFORE you attend the conference. The next deadline is December 1, 2019. This cycle will cover conferences taking place between December 1, 2019, and March 31, 2020. If awarded funding, you will receive an award letter from the Graduate Office informing you of the amount of the award and giving you instructions on what steps you will need to take to be reimbursed. All completed applications (see attached) will need to be loaded to Sakai by December 1, 2019. A drop box for the Winter 2020 cycle has been created for you. (CT –Winter 2020) are available to help cover expenses incurred by currently enrolled graduate students who travel to present papers at academic conferences in their field. ?Because our funds are not unlimited, and because we want to be able to offer assistance to all students who travel to present their work at conferences, we are only able to reimburse a portion of these expenses. You may request reimbursement for expenses such as transportation to the conference (airfare, airport transfers), lodging, and conference registration. That means you must pay for these expenses and retain receipts in order to be reimbursed after you return--- PLEASE BE SURE TO SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS.As mentioned above, this year’s deadlines for applying for departmental reimbursements for conference travel have changed. The dates are: September 15, 2019; December 1, 2019; April 1, 2020; and July 1, 2020. Thank you!Regards,Lynn FestaDirector ................
