Grading: Students can receive a grade of:

1= “Emerging”

2= “Meeting Expectations”

3= “Exceeding Expectations”

This grade will be determined upon class participation, observations, unit/chapter

assessments, and following directions during lab activities.

Behavior Policy: Students who are not following directions or lab rules during an activity will be given 2 warnings about their behavior. If the student does not change his or her behavior then the student will be removed from the lab activity and will sit at the “safe seat.” If a student harms another student or himself, they will fill out a “think Sheet” and go to the office. The Think Sheet will need to be signed by the parents and returned to school. If a student continues to disrupt class on a daily basis, then I will contact the parents to notify them of the issues. Due to the space and the materials in the lab, it is important that the students follow the directions and rules in order to be safe in science class. When the class, as a whole, does well in science they earn a check on the class behavior chart. When they earn 10 check marks, they will earn a “fun lab” day!

Science Fair: Students in K-4th grade are not required to complete a science fair project for science class. All students at Andrews Academy are welcome to participate in our annual science fair in early February. These projects can be completed independently or with partners. For more information, please visit the science fair page on our class website.

**Make sure to check the Kindergarten science page often. I will be posting information about upcoming projects, field trip information, and class pictures!**
