FALL 2019 FINANCIAL AID UPDATE

Student Census Date

The Effects on Financial Aid Payment of Funds

Cal Grant and Pell Grant funds are paid based on the student's unit enrolment as of the "Student Census" date for the semester.

See Academic Calendar 2019-2020.

6-8 units = ?-time payment of funds (50%) 9-11 units = ?-time payment of funds (75%) 12+ units = full-time payment of funds (100%)

Example:

A student is enrolled in 6-units as of the census date and the student adds an additional 6-units for a total of 12-units after the Census date has passed.

The financial aid payment will be based on part-time (50%) and not full-time enrolment.

It is IMPORTANT that students complete their aid/drop process by the Student Census date published in the Academic Calendar.

Fall 2019 Financial Aid Refunds

The Financial Aid Office will begin the disbursement process 10-days prior to the start of Fall 2019 to allow time for the processing of student refunds. Classes begin on August 26, 2019.

The processing of refunds by Student Financial Services begins prior to the first day of regular session classes and will continue each week during the semester.

If you receive a refund and then decide to withdraw from the University or drop units, you will be required to "repay" all or part of the financial aid received.

Two ways refunds are distributed:

Note: Financial Aid awards are based on full-time enrolment:

12-units undergraduate and credential students

8-units (500 series) for master students

Some awards will be adjusted if you are enrolled less than full-time.

A refund is the balance "after" payment of any outstanding University obligations have been paid (e.g., tuition fees, housing charges, etc.).

1. Direct Deposit to your checking or savings account (get your refund within days); (or)

2. Via check mailing (allow 5 ? 10 business days) from issue date to receive.
