About - Ipswich Twilight Races

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE2020 Twilight Road Races to be cancelled due to COVID-19Organisers of the Ipswich Building Society Twilight Road Races have made the difficult decision to cancel both this year’s 5k series, due to be held on Saturday 9 May, and the 10k mass participation race on Friday 24 July in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The May event was curtailed due to government restrictions on mass gatherings and social distancing. Even if restrictions are lifted before the 10k is due to take place in July, race organisers would be stretched to procure the goods and services needed to put the event on safely.Rescheduling the events for later in the year was reviewed, however, to ensure an outstanding event to be enjoyed by all is delivered, organisers and partners have decided to wait until 2021 when the races can come back bigger and better than before.Carl Ashton, Race Director said “I’m disappointed not to be able to go ahead with this year’s races, however the safety, health and wellbeing of participants, supporters and our communities is our top priority. The races will be back with a bang in 2021. In the meantime, stay safe and stay active!”. All entrants who have already registered for the 5k or 10k event will have their places automatically carried over to 2021 races. Organisers expect both events to be held on similar dates next year and will finalise the dates as soon as possible - so watch this space! The Twilight race team, Ipswich Building Society, Ipswich Jaffa Running Club and Most Active County thank you for your continued support of the events. Please visit ?for more information.?ENDSAbout Ipswich Building Society Twilight Road RacesIpswich Building Society are title sponsors of the road races with the event organised by Ipswich Jaffa Running club.
