Job Description

Title: Loss Mitigator

Status: Non-exempt

Reports to: Director of Loss Mitigation

Position Purpose:

Participates in maintaining a financially sound loan portfolio through early delinquency control. Methods to accomplish this include but are not limited to: phone calls, collection letters and in person interviews. Recommends further action on accounts as deemed necessary to the department Director (including but not limited to: repossession, legal action, foreclosure and referral to collection agency).

Essential Duties:

1. Responsible for collection of accounts 1 or more days delinquent, including but not limited to: soliciting payment arrangements on delinquent loans; interviewing members to determine reason for delinquency; taking appropriate action to resolve the account - could include loan modifications or loan workout referrals to the Financial Services Department; counseling members concerning their financial obligations and offering suggestions and alternatives; recommending further action as deemed necessary (i.e. repossession, legal action, foreclosure, referral to collection agency); skip tracing as necessary to locate members; and posting loan payments.

2. Responsible for the completion of the charge off process including: actual charge off, transfer of funds, memos and preparing vouchers necessary for accounting.

3. Respond to member inquiries by phone and in person in a timely manner (could include, but not limited to: requests to transport our collateral out of country, CPI claims, GAP and other dealer sold insurances, NADA values, address updates).

4. Process child support levies and garnishments.

5. Ensure member files are maintained in good order and all required documents are filed; and accurate records are kept on all payments received including payments on Charged Off Loans and receipts are sent to the member.

6. Responsible for compliance with the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the Anti-Money Laundering Act, including monitoring for any illegal activity as it applies to this position.

Other Duties:

1. Cross sell credit union products.

2. Research member account payment history.

3. Mail right to cures and late notices.

4. Back-up other employees in the department.

5. Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

|Education: |A high school education or equivalent required. |

|Work experience: |One year to three years of similar or related experience preferred. |

|Knowledge: |Knowl Knowledge of applicable collection laws and regulations, skip tracing and on-line data |

| |processing preferred. Knowledge of office equipment required. (See below.) |

|Skills and mental ability: |Requires good oral and written communication skills and diplomacy and tact in dealing with sensitive issues.|

|Material and equipment used: |Ten-key calculator, fax and copy machine, typewriter, phone/voice and |

| |electronic mail system and PC (Windows environment, Microsoft Word and |

|Work environment: |Office environment. |

|Physical activity and abilities: |Hearing in order to respond to personal and telephone communication. Ability to speak clearly in order to |

|(with or without accommodation) |provide information and instruction. Vision required for reading computer screen and written documents. |

| |Manual coordination and dexterity needed to use office equipment. The position also requires the ability to |

| |sit for extended periods of time and lift up to twenty pounds. Ability to drive to remote locations. |
