The valley’s ample supply of excellent quality clay provided for the needs of the two brickyards, known as #1 and #2 works, that were situated on the west side of the Crow's Run valley. Each yard had a separate shaft that tunneled into the hill to retrieve the clay. The capacity of the works was 250,000 bricks daily. ................
