Learning Support

Hi!Time seems to be going by quickly. We are in the last week of April and into Week 5 of our Learning from Home journey. We hope that you and your family continue to be safe and happy. We have added more movement and some outdoor activities this week, as our weather has been getting warmer and brighter. Try to get outside to ride your bike, scooter, or skateboard or maybe go for a walk in your neighbourhood. Have you seen any painted rocks? We would love to hear your stories. Please email or message us in Teams. Please note: We post this message the tasks on our website under the Weekly Tasks Tab. There are photos of the books and apps there to help guide you. If you happened to miss a week and can’t find it in your emails, you can always go to the website and find it posted there. Week 1 to 5 are listed.Week #5– April 27 to May 1Task #1: Letters and LettersoundsEXPLORE THE APP “LETTERSCHOOL”If you are looking to review and practice your letters and sounds, try exploring downloading the app called “LetterSchool”About LetterSchool: LetterSchool is a fun app designed to practice the correct formation of both upper and lower case letters, as well as numbers from 1 to 10. Each letter/ number provides three opportunities for your child practice tracing and forming it. The first attempt includes a tracing prompt and demonstration. The second attempt demonstrates how to form the letter and then it disappears. In the final attempt your child tries it on their own. They earn a star after each tracing task. The app provides a large visual representation of letters, drawing them out on-screen and tasking users to track the outline, following a prompt which demonstrates the order in which the letters formed. Some phonics are incorporated into each letter, but this app should be viewed primarily as an opportunity to practice forming letters. The lite version is free. Task #2: StorytellingEXPLORE THE APP “DRAW & TELL”If you are looking to discover a new way to create and tell a story, try exploring downloading the app called “Draw & Tell”About Draw & Tell: Draw and Tell is a drawing and coloring app that encourages visual and verbal storytelling by including an option for kids to record their own voice in conjunction with the drawing or coloring pages. Choose from a blank page, your photos or one of the apps backgrounds and start creating. It offers tools like crayons, stickers, paint and erasers. Not feeling up to creating your own picture?
