Reporter / Writer
This is a full-time – 2 year position.
There are two positions.
Georgia Public Broadcasting is looking for seasoned journalists to be Reporters for a new journalism initiative that focuses on digital newsgathering and content along with live radio coverage from the GPB Newsroom and NPR. GPB is increasing coverage of public policy and the impact of those policies on citizens throughout the state of Georgia. The reporters must have excellent writing skills to launch a new newsletter, gather research, and develop relationships with GPB’s network of contributors and affiliate reporters to enhance the reach of the daily newsletter. The successful candidates will have a keen editorial sense of how to engage readers so they follow the newsletter. This journalism initiative is led by the Vice President of News, Marylynn Ryan. This is a two year grant funded position and is based in Atlanta, Georgia. GPB is a top-10 radio market station.
Candidate Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Must have at least five years’ experience in digital writing experience.
• Must have a proven track record of aggregating and compiling many different news sources.
• Demonstrated high-level writing and editing skills. Excellent writing skills is a must.
• Experience gathering quality audio and editing in Adobe Audition or similar software.
• Experience writing using AP style.
• Ability to edit and gather quality sound using Adobe Sound/Adobe Audition.
• Must be able to work collaboratively, meet deadlines, juggle multiple tasks and multiple deadlines.
• Must be comfortable working under tight deadlines.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include 7 days a week, nights, weekend and holidays when needed.
