SOUND ADVICE: You can perform this routine by playing the mp3 on a quality "boom box" portable stereo mp3 player in small areas, or over a professional sound system in large areas such as an auditorium or outside. Do not play on a small inexpensive player because the sound will distort when you try to play it loudly.

The mp3 should be played with plenty of volume. Kids will be laughing hard and will miss the routine if it is too quiet, and adults may keep laughter to a minimum for fear of missing parts of the program. The volume of the player should be set about the same as if you were speaking over a microphone to be heard by the group, or louder. It is best to have the mp3 played over a public address system and have the soundman preset the volume level to be compatible with your microphone level.

You may want to actively pause the mp3 during your performance in case you get a large audience laugh (we hope you do) after one of the jokes.

Begin your presentation with the puppet in a case or off-stage out of view.

(Fanfare playing as you come out with figure.)

Y Wow! What a great looking crowd!

P Yes, it is kind of loud! (music dies down)

Y I said, “What a great looking crowd!”

P Thank you ha, ha. I do my best.

Y What are you talking about?

P I can’t hear you. (shakes head hard to each side a few times) I’ve got water in my ears!

Y Did you go swimmin’?

P What about women?

Y Never mind.

P What are we gonna talk about today?

Y We are going to talk about love and how we should love one another.

P What?

Y Love one another.

P OH! I like that! Ha, ha… LAUGH LIKE YOUR BROTHER! Ha, ha, ha…That’s very important.

Y Wait, wait, wait! I didn’t say laugh like you’re brother. (to audience) I said, “Love one another”.

P That’s what I said. “Laugh Like Your Brother” Ha, ha, ha... (You are shaking head) Can’t you laugh like your brother?

Y Of course I can!

P Well then, why are you shaking your head? Do you have water in your ears too? Ha, ha, ha.

Y No, I don’t.

P I can laugh like my brother, here goes: heee heee haa haaa hoo hoo… but why did you want me to do this?

Y Oh, no. I didn’t say laugh like your brother, I said LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

P OHHH! Love…Bottled Water. I do love bottled water…ha, ha. It’s better than water in my ears, that’s for sure…Ha, ha, ha.

Y (Shaking head again)

P You’re shaking your head again. Be careful or it could fall off! Ha, ha, ha.

Y I didn’t say “Love Bottled Water!” I said, “LOVE ONE ANOTHER!”

P OH! Now I get it! We’re gonna make some sandwiches…Ha, ha, ha.

Y What?

P You said, “LOVE PEANUT BUTTER”! I love peanut butter…ha, ha…especially with Jelly!

Y We need to get that water out of your ears. Here…Tip your head over.

(Puppet tips head backwards all the way, but turn him sideways so your audience can still see his head)

P Like this?

Y No, not like that, to the side.

P Oh okay, now what?

Y (Tap the puppet on the top of the head 3 times to clear the water)

Sfx: BONK – BONK – BONK

P OW! Oooh! What are you doing? (you stop hitting the puppet) Hey! I can hear out of one of my ears!

Y Now lean the other way. (puppet does so and you tap the other side.)

Sfx: BONK – BONK - BONK

P OW! Wow! Hey! I think that worked! Say something.

Y Can you hear me now?

P Oooohh You don’t have to shout! Ha, ha, ha.

Y (quietly) Is this better?

P Oh yeah, yeah I can hear everything now…ohh wow... Listen to that!

Y (looking around) What? I don’t hear anything?

P Listen closer

(sfx fly)

(you and puppet begin looking around in synch)

Y Oh yeah, I can kind of hear a fly buzzing around

(sfx and puppet eats it)

P (Smacks lips) Ummm, tasty!

Y Yuck! Well at least you can hear better now!

P Yes, I can …thank you SO MUCH for helping me get that water out of my ears.

Y Sure, I would do anything to help you.

P I know why you would do that….because you LOVE me!

Y Right, that’s why I was trying to say….

P Laugh like your brother?

Y No….

P Love bottled Water?

Y No….

P Love Peanut Butter?

Y No… LOVE ONE ANOTHER!!!!

P Oh right! Ahh… Now let me see if I have this right….

(song)

P Love one another

Y Very Good

P Laugh like your brother

Y Here we go again…

P Love bottled water

Y Oh come on now….

P Love peanut butter

Y You’re being so silly …

P But the most important thing, is to… Love – One – A-Nother!

Y You got it!

P Well thanks to you, I got it!

Y You know what, I love you.

P Awww thanks…ha, ha. Oh no….

Y What’s the matter?

P No!... Now I have water in my EYES, I think my eyes are leaking! You better bonk me on the back of the head and get it out….

Y Oh no…..

(musical exit)
