Graphing Calculator Instructions for Calculating Hypothesis Tests

1 Sample Z-Test with Proportions

Press STAT and the right arrow twice to select TESTS.

Use the down arrow to select

5:1-PropZTest…

Press ENTER.

Enter hypothesized proportion, number of

favorable outcomes, x, sample size, n, and

select the alternate hypothesis.

Use down arrow to select CALCULATE and

press ENTER.

The Results will include the p-value (p) that

you can then take and compare to α make

your conclusion.

Note: You can also select DRAW instead of CALCULATE to see the shaded area in the normal curve and find p.

Graphing Calculator Instructions for Calculating Hypothesis Tests

1 Sample T-Test with Means

Press STAT and the right arrow twice to select TESTS.

To select the highlighted

2:T-Test…

Press ENTER.

Use right arrow to select Stats (rather than

raw data) and Press ENTER.

Use the down arrow to Enter the hypothesized

mean, sample mean, standard deviation, and

sample size. Select alternate hypothesis.

Press down arrow to select Calculate and press

ENTER.

The Results will include the p-value (p) that

you can then take and compare to α make

your conclusion.

Note: You can also select DATA instead of STATS if you have entered data into L1 instead of the sample mean and standard deviation

To find the exact probability using a t-distribution

Go to 2nd VARS (Distr) and select 5:tcdf

Enter in (lower bound, upper bound, df). Make sure to enter the commas as well as note that the upper and lower bounds are for the t-values that you have calculated.

Then hit ENTER

Note: if you want a 2 tail t-test, just multiply this probability by 2.
