Facelift-Assistance

Facelift Assistance

Housing improvements in the Castleland Renewal Area were undertaken by a rolling programme of Facelift Schemes, designed to improve the general appearance of the street scenes by carrying out works to external elevations, and in so doing increased the confidence of residents in the area.

The programme commenced in August 2011 and was completed in November 2014.

“Facelift Assistance” was offered to all property owners including owner occupiers and landlords. The assistance was completely FREE with NO CONDITIONS attached and covered:

|The renewal of fascia boards in uPVC                           |The renewal of rainwater gutters and downpipes |

|The replacement of timber doors and windows in uPVC  |Stone / brick cleaning and repointing |

|Over-rendering works                                                   |Installation of loft insulation |

Over the lifetime of the Facelift Programme £4million was spent on external improvements to almost 1200 homes. With 98% of households taking advantage of Facelift Assistance, the improvement in the visual appearance of the area has been dramatic.

The feedback from resident surveys indicates the programme has definitely altered the perceptions of those who live in the area, with 85% of residents reporting that their sense of pride has been restored in the neighbourhood and 75% stating that the Facelift works has encouraged them to undertake further home improvements.
