Mission Statement

The Academy of Law and Public Safety, a personalized academy with a career focus, provides a rigorous theme-based curriculum in conjunction with community, industry and higher education partnerships. Monmouth County students acquire knowledge, skills and professional ethics while utilizing the latest technology related to their law enforcement field.

Background

The Academy of Law and Public Safety (ALPS) is a full-day, two-year academy for junior and senior Monmouth County students. By fostering an atmosphere in which students, parents, faculty members and administrators work collaboratively, we have seen exceptional results.

ALPS is one of many specialized schools administered by The Monmouth County Vocational School District. This school provides a college preparatory program with an emphasis on law enforcement and public safety.

All students are required to enroll in forty credits of course work per year and successfully complete eighty credits for graduation. All college preparatory courses and theme related courses are offered at college-level curriculum. The school serves the community by providing exemplary learning experiences for students in those areas and related fields.

All students follow the same rigorous course of study. The majority of our students earn grades that are considered proficient to above average proficient.

All ALPS students are pursuing their interest in law, law enforcement, and/or public safety. Many of our students are participating in or have participated in one or more of the following:

Local police department explorer program

First aid squad

EMS/EMT

Volunteer Fire Rescue

Youth Police Academy
