MARCH 2016

SMALLBORE RIFLE

Wayne Nunn

We had a nice turnout for our February match. Shooting prone the winner was Guy Taylor with 791-45x followed by two keen competitors, Steve Yates with 789-42x and Mike Ginesi with 789-41x. (Check those last two scores…one “x” apart!) From the F Class end of the line the winner was Philip Beekley with 769-27x and from the bench it was Dr. Don Lenoir with 792-53x.

Next Match is on March 12, Approved 1600 point match, cost is $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for juniors. (Better check that next match. 160 shots is a lot of shooting! Make sure you bring snacks and some water!)

HIGHPOWER RIFLE

John Kelly

The February High Power training match was canceled, and a working party held instead, to work on the pit area. We made good progress, but still there is more work to be done.

The next scheduled match will be the J. C. Garand Match, scheduled for Sunday, March 20th, at the CTSA Range, New Braunfels. Match fee is $20 for adults and $10 for juniors and active duty military. The organization has two Garand rifles that I will bring out, in case someone wants to shoot one at the match. I will also have 35 rounds of surplus 30-06 ammo (it will either be LC or HXP) for sale. The price is $10. I should have the gate open by 0730, followed by sign-in. Fun begins at 0815 for set up and first rounds down range at 0900.

The High Power training schedule has been updated for 2016 on the organization's calendar. Training matches are held on the third Sunday of the month, except for the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Match, which is the 1st Sunday of December. There is an exception in July. July's match will be held on the last Saturday, July 30th. This is your chance to come out on a Saturday to shoot with us.
