What is the medicine for?
- Used to prevent or relieve constipation.
- Used as an antacid to relieve heartburn.
How should I give my child this medicine?
- Give only the amount recommended by your child’s doctor or pharmacist or use according to package label directions.
- Do not continue to give your child magnesium hydroxide longer than recommended by your child’s doctor or on the package label.
- Magnesium hydroxide usually causes a bowel movement in 6 to 8 hours. If your child does not have a bowel movement by that time, you may give a second dose.
- If giving you child a liquid medicine, shake the bottle well and carefully measure each dose with an oral syringe, dropper, or medicine spoon.
How should this medicine be stored?
- Keep medicine in its original bottle.
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
- Do not give your child any other medicines, including over-the-counter medicines, until you have checked with your child’s doctor or pharmacist.
- Do not give your child this medicine within 2 hours of giving ciprofloxacin, digoxin, fluconazole, iron, isoniazid, ketoconazole, phenytoin, or tetracycline.
What are the common side effects of this medicine?
