When you open a Word document, an Excel spreadsheet or a PowerPoint presentation, the Microsoft Ink toolbar appears in the title bar. The SMART Ink will turn off by default (grays out). Before you can use the Microsoft Ink tools, you must first add the ink tools to the Microsoft product you want to use. The directions for adding the ink tools are shown below. The difference between the SMART Ink and the Microsoft Ink is that the SMART Ink serves as a transparent overlay over the window. When using the Microsoft Ink tools, the ink becomes a permanent part of your document. Note: This is profile specific so it must be done for each user.
1. Click on File tab and select Options from the menu
2. Select Customize Ribbon
3. Select All Tabs under Choose Commands from:
4. Select Pens under the Ink Tools and click the Add button to add the Pens tab as a main tab on the ribbon.
