United States Geography TourINTRODUCTIONA group of foreign exchange students has been invited to spend a semester at Thornton Academy. The students will tour the United States by car before arriving in Saco, Maine. Because they won't have time to travel throughout the entire United States, they've decided to focus their tour on only one region of the country. They've asked your class to help them decide which region to explore.TASKYou and your classmates will work in teams to explore six regions of the United States: (1) New England, (2) the Mid Atlantic states, (3) the South, (4) Southwest, (5) Midwest, and (6) West. Each team will investigate one region using The Themes of Geography to identify and describe their region. How are humans altering the natural environment?MOVEMENT – Studying movement involves identifying and measuring the exchange of products, people, information, and ideas among places. REGION – How do these themes combine to make this area a distinct region? What makes it unique from other regions?Other items such as landmarks, monuments, and areas of interest may be included in your thinglink.
