This individual is also responsible for overseeing the construction of new structures for the company.Qualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Minimum QualificationsMust have a minimum of 10 years of experience in maintenance and construction; pumps,irrigation,electrical, plumbing, HVAC and gasoline and diesel machines.Must have welding experience.Proven ability to plan and coordinate work, monitor and evaluate performance of staff; ensure their ability to safely operate machines and tools.Forklift experience and/or certification.Must be able to read and understand repair and user manuals.Demonstrated problem solving skillsMust have effective communication skills and be able to interact well with the maintenance team and company management.Excellent customer service skills.Must be organized and be able to multi-task effectively.Must be able to lift 82.5 lbs.Must be willing to work extra hours if needed; weekends and after hours to ensure productivity of other nursery functionsMust wear ankle high work boots. Successfully pass drug screening, DMV check and post offer physical assessment.Must possess a valid driver’s licenseSupervisory ResponsibilitiesUp to 5 individuals per the needs of the nurseryEssential FunctionsMaintain and repair the irrigation system. ( 400 gpm pumps, up to 6in pvc pipe, irrigation clocks and solenoids)Oversee and implement a maintenance program for all machinery.(including 2 potting machines with conveyors and augers)Implement a maintenance program for buildings and structures.Oversee the construction of new buildings and structures.Oversee and maintain a program for freeze prevention for irrigation, machines and buildings.Monitor a fleet of vehicles, weekly maintenance check on each vehicle for issues and cleanliness; ensure each vehicle is fueled and operating in a safe and efficient manner.Maintain a clean and organized shop.Monitor operating procedures of the maintenance department to ensure efficient operation.Control and monitor maintenance inventory.Ability to interpret schematics.Lead initiatives for ensuring a safe work environment through involvement on the safety committee and helping implement safety policies.Maintain Material Data Safety Sheets in a central binder for chemicals/products in the maintenance department.Coordinate work performed by third party repair and construction companies.Able to work in fast paced environment and multi-task effectively.Counsel and write up disciplinary and safety warnings for staff as necessary.Ensure materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures. Oversee the rotation of inventories within the maintenance department. Anticipate and request funding for future personnel requirements.Anticipate and request funding for future projects.Monitor a fleet of vehicles, weekly maintenance check on each vehicle for issues and cleanliness; ensure each vehicle is operating in a safe and efficient manner.Other duties as assigned.Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to grasp, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear; creep and/or crawl up to 4 feet. The employee is frequently required to walk; and stoop or kneel. The employee is also required to sit, climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and or move objects up to 82.5lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Nursery worker 1.Work Environment This position works outdoor exposure during the workday.
