Lindsay Harrison

Manager, Event Attraction

Edmonton Tourism

Lindsay Harrison started her career at Edmonton Tourism 5 1/2 years ago after graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies. In University, she played on the Pandas Tennis Team and was selected to represent Canada at the Universiade Games in Beijing, China in 2001. She is a passionate participant and fan of sports.

Lindsay started at Edmonton Tourism as the Sport and Cultural Coordinator, which was a new position created to proactively pursue the sports market. She played the lead role in developing Edmonton Events International (EEI), which is a partnership with various sport and cultural leaders in the community with the goal of being a premier host city for major events. Lindsay has taken the lead in developing an EEI tool-kit which includes a website, brochure, video and promotional materials. Lindsay has helped increase the awareness of event attraction and the importance of a strategic plan in bidding and hosting events in Edmonton - as such, her position at Edmonton Tourism has changed from coordinator to manager as a reflection of that.

Since the inception of EEI, Lindsay has assisted in securing the following events to Edmonton:

• 2007 CN Canadian Women’s Open Golf Championships

• 2007 FIFA U20 World Cup Canada

• 2010 CFL Grey Cup

• 2012 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships

She has also provided support to other major events including the 2005 World Masters Games, 2009 Roar of the Rings Olympic Curling Trials and sits on the bid committee for the 2015 Summer Universiade Games.

In addition to her role at Edmonton Tourism, Lindsay is currently a CSTA board member and acts as co-chair for the Training and Education committee. She has also been involved for 2 years with Team Canada at Sportaccord and has participated with other Canadian cities at the TEAMS conference.
