IOS110 Course Information

The PRELAB INSTRUCTIONS will help you prepare the Materials Required:

 

▪ Minimum 200GB SATA hard drive and hard drive enclosure.

✓ Hard drive enclosure must be purchased from bookstore to ensure compatibility with lab room computers.

✓ Hard drive can be purchased from bookstore or another source. Ensure it is a 3.5” SATA drive (intended to be installed internally to the computer-no external USB drives).

✓ This hard drive is to be used ONLY for the IOS110 class.

▪ USB flash drive for labs (can be shared with other classes)

▪ 1 blank writable DVD for creating Windows Server 2012 R2 installation disk.

▪ OR (optional) minimum 8GB USB flash drive (dedicated to IOS110) to make bootable installation USB ***check with instructor, your lab room may not support this option

▪ Complete Prelab – Instructions on IOS110 webpage (see URL below)

* Bring everything to the lab class each week. Print labs and bring to class or use a laptop, tablet or smartphone to access labs online.

Lab Policies

 

▪ Lab activities are on the IOS110 web page (links from my webpage too).

▪ For the online labs: they must be printed prior to class, or use a laptop, tablet or smartphone to access them online during the lab periods.

▪ Bring your flash drive and installation DVD/USB to lab class every week.

▪ Save files related to the IOS110 course on your flash drive, not the hard drive.

▪ Absolutely no food or drinks are allowed in the labs.

▪ Unless specifically told to, you may not access the Internet during lecture/activity or lab time.

 

Other Important Information

 

▪ Set-up your student email account as soon as possible. Only e-mails sent from your myseneca.ca account will be answered.

▪ Make sure that you have your picture taken for your Seneca ID card (Seneca One Card).

▪ Tutors are available in the Learning Centre for topics you need help with.

IOS110 EVALUATION

 

Assignment(s) 20%

• You will have quizzes and activities that will make up your assignment mark.

Lab Activities 25%

• All lab activities are on course web page

• The Prelab is worth 1.5% 1.5

• Labs 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 are each worth 1.5% 10.5

• Lab 5 – Command Line is worth 3.0

• The Group Lab Assignment is worth 10% 10.0

• Lab activities will be completed in class and you will demonstrate your labs for marks.

 

Test(s) 20%

• You will have at least two tests in class to make up your test mark.

 

Final Exam

• Week 14, during exam week 35%

 

 

TOTAL 100%

Promotion Policy:

To obtain a credit in this subject, a student must:

• Complete at least 6 labs

• achieve 50% or better in the weighted average of the tests and the exam and

• obtain a grade of 50% or better in the final exam

• obtain 50% in the overall in the overall subject average
