QUALITY ASSURANCE SCREENING TEST
The Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST) is used by the State of Oklahoma Interpreter Certification and Resource Center (ICRC) to evaluate interpreters who are interested in being certified in the State of Oklahoma. This is a two (2) part test that consists of a written and performance portion. The written portion is seventy five (75) multiple-choice questions over the Ethical Standards and Limitations of Levels applied to various situations, and must be passed with 86%. The performance involves a videotaped ethical, situational interview and interactive transliterating and interpreting settings. The evaluation panel scores your performance and you are awarded a level based on your skill accuracy.
If you would like to take the written test, which is the first step of the process, you may contact the ICRC Program Specialist to set an appointment. The cost of the QAST written test is $50.00 for Oklahoma residences or $100.00 for individuals living outside of Oklahoma. The cost for the QAST performance portion is $100.00 for Oklahoma residences or $200.00 for individuals living outside of Oklahoma. Annual maintenance fees, $40.00, and 10 hours of CEUs are due annually.
If you have questions or would like to make an appointment, please contact the ICRC Program Specialist, Services to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing at 405 522-7936 in the OKC area or 1-800-833-8973 state wide.
