Personal Electronic Portfolio Project

BTT1O3 Final Summative Project

For your final summative you can choose from one of two projects. Either one you choose will be marked the same and worth 15% of your final mark. You will save all of your work into one folder or it won’t be able to be marked appropriately. Create a summative folder lastnamefirstname_summative. Option 2 will have to be presented to your teacher for marking.

**Option 1**

Personal Electronic Portfolio Website

Instructions:

Your personal electronic portfolio contains examples of “your best work” and demonstrates your knowledge and understanding of the terminology and concepts covered in this course. You are required to organize samples of the computer application skills you have gained during this course:

• All documents must be your original work prepared by you.

• Each work sample should be labelled appropriately and be error free.

• Your portfolio can be completed using any Web Design software (i.e. Dreamweaver, FrontPage, Weebly, Google Sites….…)

The electronic portfolio must be organized using a main (home) page with links to other pages (see outline below). Remember, the electronic portfolio should be designed in a way that anyone is able to navigate from one page to another, just like in a website. For example, if someone is in the Word Processing page they should be able to go directly to the Presentation page without having to go to the Home page first.

GENERAL RULES WHEN CREATING PORTFOLIO PAGES

• Include a title, background and proper formatting for all pages

• Keep it simple

• Use appropriate colours

• Organize information in a logical sequence

• Make sure that there are no dead links

• Make navigation easy by having links to all pages on each page including the home page (i.e. use a menu)

• Keep all of the pages in the portfolio consistent

**Option 2**

Coffee Shop Order Taking Software using Visual Basic

Write a program that calculates the amount due for each item and also totals all items for each order. Have a textbox for Quantity, a checkbox for takeout items, which are taxable (13%); all other orders are non-taxable if it is “to stay”. Include option buttons for the five coffee selections – Cappuccino ($2.75), Espresso ($2.50), Latte ($2.25), Iced Cappuccino ($3.25), and Iced Latte ($2.75).

What the program should do:

Use a command button for Calculate Selection, which will calculate and display the amount due for each item in a label. A button Clear for Next Item will clear the selections and amount for the single item. In a separate frame create additional labels that will maintain the summary information for the current order to include subtotal, tax (13%), and total.

Additional buttons will be used for New Order, and Exit. The New Order button will clear the bill for the next customer.

**You should include a message box for BAD data.**

How do I earn a level 3?

1. Everything above included

2. All labels, text boxes, command button properties labelled correctly

3. The form should show the item amount for each selection and correctly display the price of the item and display an order total summary.

How do I earn a level 4?

1. Everything in the “What the program should do” section

2. Include a graphic on the form and in all message boxes

3. Correctly calculate the order subtotal

4. Correctly format the cost of the order as currency

5. Include “Hot Keys” for all commands

6. The price of the order should adjust for take-out tax

7. The Calculate Selection button should be greyed out at the beginning of each selection and become active after a coffee selection is made

Note: If you implement some of the requirements for a level 4, you can still get a 3+ or 4+.

**Also include in your code window programmers comments for each step so your teacher can determine your thought process to help with marking. It would also be helpful to list in programmer comments your list of controls for each label, button, etc. and a list for variables and options.

**You will drop off your assignment but you will also present it to your teacher, as Visual Basic does not always work well when dropped off.**
