WEEKLY SPELLING HOMEWORK OPTIONS*Choose 4 options per week. 1 item will be turned in every day (Tuesday-Friday).All homework is to be written in your Spelling Notebook or stapled inside it.Memory; the matching game- Make two sets of flash cards on 3 X 5 cards. Post words around the house where you will see them often (i.e. on the microwave). Play Memory; the matching game. Return your Memory game cards and have a parent sign your Agenda for full credit. Hangman – Get with a parent (or friend) and play a round of Hangman. Play Hangman in your Spelling notebook and present the games for credit. *You may even want to have your parents play too! Word Scramble- Have a parent (or friend)write each spelling word with the letters out of order. Unscramble the letters to correctly spell each word. Ex. act = catWord Search- Make your own Word Search. You must solve it to receive credit. (See Ms. Smith if you need grid paper to make your puzzle. You can also make your own on . Be sure to print it out and bring it to school.)Secret Code Words- Write your words in a secret code (include alphabet code legend). ex. bat = so, tab = Cartoon Strip- Create a cartoon strip using at least 10 spelling words within the captions.Type Your Words- Type your spelling list four times on a computer, with each list typed in a different font. Print it out.Sailboat Writing – Write each spelling word as shown below.Example: catcccacacatcatCompose a Song/Rap- Use at least 10 spelling words when creating this song. (Note: The song must make sense. )Draw your Words- Write each spelling word two times. Draw an icon, picture or symbol next to each word to remind you how to spell the word. ex. cat = Spell Check- Have a parent (or friend) misspell your spelling words in your spelling notebook. You find the mistakes and rewrite the words. Draw a line under the mistakes.ex. boigraphy = biographySpeak and Spell- Use your spelling words in conversation throughout the week. Be silly, have fun. ("This dinner makes me wince!") Encourage your family to try to use your spelling words around the house. When anyone does manage to use a spelling word, your goal is to spell it. By the end of the week, you will easily be able to use the words in a sentence. *This is an extra practice activity that will not be turned in or taken as “Spelling Homework.”Look ‘em Up!- Find each word in the dictionary or thesaurus. Write a definition for each one.Rhyme Time- Write each spelling word correctly.
