There's a future in manufacturing. Make it yours.
According toThe Upstate SC Alliance (), over 102,000 manufacturing jobs are found in the 10-county Upstate region of our state, an increase of 26,000 in the past five years alone. The region is home to industry leaders such as Bosch, BMW, GE, Magna and Michelin. Greenville Technical College's Machine Tool Technology program is helping to prepare a highly-skilled workforce to meet current and future needs of Upstate manufacturers. The college has made a significant investment in the advanced training required for many of these job opportunities with the opening of the newest GTC campus, the Center for Manufacturing Innovation (CMI). Machinists learn to use lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and other machine tools to produce precision metal parts, plus they learn to operate and program Computer Numerical Control (CNC) ma chines. They take these skills to small machining shops or large manufacturing firms that produce durable goods such as metalworking and industrial machinery, aircraft, and motor vehicles.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of this program are highly recruited and well paid, working as machinists, quality control pro fessionals, tool makers, and production operators for companies including American Metric, BMW, Cryo vac, General Electric, Kemet, Magna International, Michelin, Rockwell Automation, Treblig, and many other well-known employers.
