ExemptPosition Summary The Supervisor supervises maintenance employees in a manufacturing environment, plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in maintenance methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Ensure proper equipment maintenance for the facility. Reduce and eliminate downtime of equipment by dispatching Maintenance Technicians and determining root cause of the problem and the repair.Maintains and directs preventative maintenance program.Ensuring effective employee relations; providing employee training, coaching and development; recommend hiring and staffing decisions; help resolve employee issues Managing departmental performance measures on scorecards, and reporting those to the appropriate ManagerProvide leadership, direction and management for departmentConduct departmental meetingsManage employee vacation, overtime and tracking absenteeismConduct employee performance reviews Review and approve employee time in GuardianFlexibility of schedule to work alternate shiftsMaintain and represent company core values and facilitate company cultureBalancing quality, employee workload, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas; working to continuously improve in all areasExamining employee work for efficiency, exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and proceduresProviding leadership through a 30-day planning cycle of schedules and production to Team Leads and employeesRecord accident and safety incidents and report them to EH & S SupervisoryProactively support the team and company in achieving its objectivesMinimum QualificationHigh School Diploma or equivalent plus an associate degree or completion of a technical training program in a maintenance trade or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in a maintenance trade or a combination of the three, is required5+ years in a maintenance roles/environmentExperience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)Experience in mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical and plumbing systems is requiredA general knowledge of maintenance and repair processes and procedures for machines, building and utility equipment, systems and components is requiredThe ability to read and interpret information from equipment manufacturer’s manuals, electrical diagrams, ladder logic, service requests, layout sketches, blueprints, construction project specifications and trade specifics manuals and practices to determine how the fixture or equipment should perform is required.Excellent communication skills and strong technical writing skills are requiredProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other computer software including database applicationsSkills in the proper use of test equipment, hand and power tools, diagnosing and trouble-shooting equipment malfunction and system failures is preferredPrevious experience in management, such as supervision, including employee hiring and retention, performance reviews and employee development, and discipline; a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through othersPrevious experience in Lean Manufacturing concepts such as 5S, Standard Work, Leveling, Visual Management, etc.Ability to think ahead and plan over a 30-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve resultsMust possess excellent organizational and time management skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions both oral and writtenMust have great attention to detail, be results oriented and able to work effectively with all other supervisors to resolve production issuesMust possess ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions givenPhysical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
