Molding Products LLC, located in South Bend, Indiana, is a manufacturer of custom sheet molding compounds (SMC) serving Tier I automotive, consumer, marine, and industrial thermoset compression molders.We currently have an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for documenting and improving Molding Products’ manufacturing processes. Major Responsibilities: Track key performance indicators critical to manufacturing excellence.Make procedural changes and equipment modifications while utilizing management of change in a process safety management environment. Participate on process safety management team and safety committee. Strong data analysis and computer skills. Should be familiar with industrial process control and be able to update and maintain CAD process drawings. Develop and complete Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P & ID's) as required.Must be able to communicate and train production personnel on process changes.Recommends capital expenditures required to meet the plant's production and sales objectives and to properly maintain the facility.Initiates and implements changes in design and engineering that will enable the plant to operate with greater efficiency.Develops a work plan to promptly resolve issues related to safety/fire protection/housekeeping inspections and environmental/regulatory agency visits.Provide direction and coordination of engineering and contractor groups for specific Plant projects in order to maintain the plant's buildings, grounds, utilities, environmental and production equipment at an optimum level needed to provide safe, efficient and uninterrupted service.Assist HSEQ Manager in developing and maintaining of the plant safety, EPA, OSHA and ISO standard programs.Create and maintain required any process safety management (PSM) systems and protocols.Hands on involvement of the corrective action including the developing of an engineering solution, procedural change (under our ISO) and follow-up to ensure the effectiveness of the change.Travel requirement are minimalPerforms other duties as assigned by management.Ideal Candidate:BS Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical engineering.5+ years work experience in a similar position.Experience with statistical process control and other quality improvement tools eg. Lean Six Sigma, 6S, DMAIC, 8D problem solving. Strong understanding of SMC process equipment and technology.Strong problem solving, analytical and leadership skills developed through thorough investigation of a problem or process to be investigated and the application of engineering or process knowledge that will allow the development of a process or product improvement.Strong understanding of batch chemical process equipment and technology.
