SPECIAL NOTE: Installation Sequences

DREMEL TOOL

After TMS and Safety mandated preparatory steps have been

taken, the installation sequence is the suggested method for

completing the accessory installation. In some instances the

suggested sequence is written for one associate to install and in

others the sequence is given as part of a team accessory

installation. Unless otherwise stated in the document, the

associates may perform the installation steps in any order to

make the installation as efficient as possible while maintaining

consistent quality.

1. PREPARATION

(a). Place protective covering in

vehicle.

(b). Remove negative battery

terminal. (FIGURE 1-0)

Note: Vehicle and mounting surface

temperature must be between a

minimum of 60 F and a maximum of

110 F just prior to installation.

2. VEHICLE DISSASSEMBLY

(a). Using a nylon tool, remove console and

disconnect console connector. (FIGURE 2-0)

(b). Remove driver side visor holder. Turn the

holder approximately 45¡ã and pull it out as shown

in the illustration. Disengage the 2 claws and

remove the holder. (FIGURE 2-1)

(c). Remove driver side A-pillar by pulling the

upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the

cabin. Disengage the 2 clips. (FIGURE 2-2)

(d). Disengage the 2 claws from behind and

remove the outer mirror switch assembly.

3. CONSOLE PREPARATION

REMOVE MIRROR

(a). Using a marking utensil and scale mark

1" hole location on backside of console.

Position hole 45 mm to the left from right

edge of sunglass bin and 15 mm from bottom

edge of sunglass bin. (FIGURE 3-0)

(b). Using a nylon tool, remove mirror from

sunglass bin by peeling it from the console

and discard. Using a marking utensil and

scale mark clearance hole location on inside

edge of sunglass bin door mirror area.

Position hole 35 mm to the right from left

side of door and 50 mm from bottom edge of

door. (FIGURE 3-0)

(c). Drill out harness and clearance hole with

1¡± hole saw. (FIGURE 3-1)

(d). Using a marking utensil and scale mark

the 1/8 pilot hole location for the10-5/8

screws on both sides of overhead console.

Position hole 45 mm from plastic ridge on

sunglass bin and 45 mm from bottom edge of

sunglass bin. (FIGURE 3-2)

(e). Place the console door in the closed and

latched position. Drill out 1/8 pilot holes on

both sides of console. (FIGURE 3-3)

(f). Using a marking utensil and scale mark

routing template location on front side of

sunglass bin door. Measure and mark a 2"

long line 99 mm to the left from the right

edge of sunglass bin door. Measure and mark

a 2" line 35 mm from the bottom edge of

sunglass bin door. The 2 marks will form an

+ shape on the sunglass bin door.

Template must be placed at this location

to install BlueConnect?. Not following

these measurements will result in

sunglass bin door damage.

(g). Remove the self-adhesive backing from

the template. Using the center point mark on

the template, adhere the template to the

console centering it both horizontally and

vertically on + shape marked on sunglass bin

door. The flat part of oval area goes towards

latch on sunglass bin door. (FIGURE 3-5)

4. ROUTING OUT HOLE FOR UIB

(a). Secure the overhead console for cutting.

Be careful not to damage the console when

securing it. (FIGURE 4-0)

(b). Using a cutting tool, such as a hand held

dremel tool, cut out the area described on the

template (the oval area). Start cutting from well

inside of the line.

(c). Any additional trimming or cutting that is

needed should be done from the inside of the

line. Use a sanding drum to enlarge and

smooth the opening as needed. (FIGURE 4-3)

5. INSERTING THE UIB ASSEMBLY

(a). Insert the UIB assembly through the opening

of the overhead console from the front side. The

microphone goes towards driver.

6. ATTACHING THE UIB ASSEMBLY

RETAINER

(a). The UIB assembly retainer is designed to fit

one way. (FIGURE 6-0) It attaches to the back

of the UIB assembly from the rear of the opening

using the 4 screws supplied. (FIGURE 6-1)

THE LENGTH, DIAMETER AND THREAD

FAIL TO PROPERLY SECURE THE UNIT.

NEVER USE AN ELECTRIC DRILL OR

CORDLESS SCREWDRIVER TO ASSEMBLE
